Course Description

Sociology is the study of society. You will learn how to write essays on a range of subjects from the family, politics, history, education, religion and examine theories of and solutions to crime.

Sociology enables students to understand, question and interpret today’s society. You will examine the problems facing society and the way sociologists go about studying society and social conditions.

You will also learn how society has changed over time, and what factors influence the growth and development of society. Furthermore, you will examine your own place in society and how factors may influence you throughout your lifetime.

You will be encouraged and supported in your independent learning and will develop sophisticated note-taking skills. This is excellent preparation for higher education.

Entry Requirements

To study this course you will need to meet the overall entry requirements for Pathway 1 or 2 including a grade 5 or above in GCSE English.
