Salisbury 6th Form College (S6C) is holding a Geosciences Fair on Wednesday 13th February 2019 from 3:30-5:30pm. This is the first fair of its kind to be held in Salisbury and will bring together over 20 employers and universities from the geography, geosciences and geology sectors who will be exhibiting in the College on Tollgate Road. As the population of the earth increases, resources dwindle and we all notice more extreme weather patterns, these are the people who can make a difference – be part of the solutions! The fair is open to students in year 8 to 13 and parents are encouraged to attend with them too (under 16s must be accompanied by a responsible adult). There will also be more information about a trip to Iceland that S6C students have the opportunity to participate in whilst studying at the College.
Exhibitors include Wessex Archaeology, Environment Agency, Mott MacDonald plus many more employers and universities from across the UK.
Pre-booking your attendance is recommended and can be done on the College website: http://www.salisbury6c.ac.uk/geosciences Attendees who pre-register will receive a goodie bag when they arrive. If numbers are large, the event may be restricted to pre-registration.
Also, throughout the College day, workshops will be taking place for invited Yr 10 students from schools across Salisbury, along with S6C current students. The employers and universities will be running interactive sessions to allow students to explore the subjects and the careers within them. These sessions will include working with a drone to explore aerial views of the area, looking at volcanic activity, plotting hazards associated with climate change and tectonic activity using GIS, and examining a soil core showing evidence of a historical UK tsunami.
If you are a student in Years 8 to 13 or know a student in Years 8 to 13 who would like to attend, please pre-register for the fair which will run from 3:30-5:30pm on Wednesday 13th February 2019 at Salisbury 6th Form College on Tollgate Road using the online form: http://www.salisbury6c.ac.uk/geosciences
