We’re offering Year 11 students the opportunity to attend a taster day on Friday 26th October 2018 from 9:45am-2:45pm.

Booking is still open to attend, please print and complete this form and return it to us as soon as possible (the booking form says to return by Friday 19th October so that we can plan catering arrangements, however, we are still accepting bookings): Taster Day booking form (October 18) (6) Lunch will be provided so don’t delay, book now to reserve your space. Students can experience studying as an S6C student. Try out practical lessons with other prospective students from our wide range of A Levels and vocational qualifications including extended diplomas. Meet our teachers and current students and tour the fantastic facilities with our Student Leadership Team.Booking is necessary to attend as parental permission is required.We’re offering taster sessions in all of our Level 3 courses. Here’s a description of each of the subject tasters we’re offering:

Applied Science – a practical taster lesson where you can explore the subject further.

Art & Design: Fine Art – Learn how to create hand rendered typography and create a 2 colour lino print all revolving around a spooky theme.

Art & Design: Photography – Learn how to create dramatic images using stencils, lighting and props all revolving around a spooky theme.

Biology – a practical taster lesson where you can explore the subject further.

Business A Level – a taster lesson where you can explore the subject further.

Business BTEC – a taster lesson where you can explore the subject further.

Chemistry – a practical taster lesson where you can explore the subject further.

Computer Science: Programming

Digital Media – This 1 hour taster session is based on learning how to use a green screen.

Economics – a taster lesson where you can explore the subject further.

English Language – Beat the boss – understanding how people in positions of power use language to get you to do what they want and how to turn the tables! A lesson in occupational language.

English Literature – a taster lesson where you can explore the subject further.

Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) – find out more about this optional extra course that can help you with your university, apprenticeship or job application. When you can chose absolutely any topic for your project, how do you get started? We’ll be talking about the course, and considering different topic areas that you can study. In a guided session, you’ll be completing an ideas shower.

Film Studies – this 1 hour taster is focused on exploring the link between film and feminism.

Further Maths – demonstrate new methods of algebra that prove that mathematical rules are correct including number series and algebra.

Geography – come and find out more about this exciting course. We’ll be using maps and photographs of Salisbury to consider how it has changed over time and what that means for the local people and outsiders. How do they perceive the city? How is it represented? How does the physical geography shape a place? This links into the Changing Places topic which is studied in Year 12.

Health & Social Care – Communication in Health and Social Care. An interactive, fun session using a variety of communication methods that you will come across in Health and Social Care.

History – a taster lesson where you can explore the subject further.

Law – Neighbours From Hell – how to tell whether you neighbour is a nuisance and what, legally, you can do about them. An introduction to the Tort of Nuisance.

Maths – How do we use maths equations to model how the world works using examples from physics and statistics.  How does maths explain how stars work and how do fashion manufacturers decide on sizes.

Physics – a practical taster lesson where you can explore the subject further.

Psychology – a taster lesson where you can explore the subject further.

RS (Philosophy & Ethics) – a taster lesson where you can explore the subject further.

Sociology – a taster lesson where you can explore the subject further.

Sport – a taster lesson where you can explore the subject further.
