Course Description

This course covers the common practical techniques used in professional laboratories. You will be introduced to a huge variety of equipment and techniques, and discover how these are used by real scientists.

All the sciences at S6C, including Applied Science, are taught in new, purpose-built labs with the full range of equipment you will need to be successful on the course.

Working towards this qualification will make you a strong, independent learner ready for a place at university or full time employment.

Assessment

A combination of written examinations and coursework.

What Next?

This course forms an excellent basis for employment in the science industry on the technical side. It is also good preparation for careers in public services such as the police force, fire service or NHS. It can lead to employment in areas related to food, and human or environmental studies. If taken alongside other science A levels, this course provides a route to a wide range of science-related university courses.

Entry Requirements

Þ Minimum 5 GCSES at grade 4 or above including English Language

Þ At least grade 5 in GCSE Science and GCSE Maths
