The term continues to be busy with GCSE resits this week and year 13 students preparing for their mocks, which start on 27 November. This revision support document, collated by S6C teaching staff, is a really useful tool for students and we would recommend everyone takes a look. Being well prepared for exams takes away a lot of stress and we put a lot of work into ensuring our students know what to expect and how to cope in their exams.
We were delighted to welcome year 11 RS students from The Trafalgar School at Downton for a Business Ethics lesson today. The students had a taste of A level Philosophy and debated whether businesses have a responsibility to be ethical. The students were a real credit to their school.
Thank you to our student union who have organised festive shoebox donations for Operation Christmas Child, an initiative by Samaritan’s Purse. We’re really proud of the response from our students and are delighted to support such a great cause.
Next week Rebecca Anderson will be hosting a one hour presentation on Tuesday 14 November at 5.30pm to provide information on UCAS and Apprenticeships. Those with a young person in year 13 may wish to attend for a recap and for those with a young person in year 12, this is the perfect time to be thinking about life after S6C and what that may look like. On Thursday 16 November we are opening our doors and inviting prospective students to come and meet us and get a taste of what being a student at S6C is all about. Please join us at 5.30pm or 6.30pm for a welcome presentation then feel free to look round our building, meet our teachers and chat to our student ambassadors who will be on hand to answer your questions. We have introduced three new courses for 2024 – Animation A Level, Spanish A Level and Engineering CTEC. These new courses have been added to complement our existing portfolio and we are really looking forward to welcoming students with an interest in these subject areas.
And finally, our sports teams continue to perform brilliantly, this time our Netball Academy who played against Brockenhurst College on Wednesday. The final score was an incredible 43-10 to S6C. Match report from Netball Academy Coach Helen below:
Our squad took to court at WSE and with a strong assertive attack took the lead convincingly.
Quarter 1: Shooters Rio and Lois received ball from our strong mid court, plus turnovers from Issy and Annie, with Imogen defending hard on the GA keeping her out of play. Score was 11-0 to S6C.
Quarter 2: Shooting combination of Rio and Flo. Tally into defence too, keeping our defensive structure and continued attack. Amazing score at half time: S6C 20-2 Brockenhurst
Quarter 3 and Quarter 4 saw players playing different positions within their skill areas: 28-5, 36-7 and then a super extra 7 minutes.
Great game! Squad were slick and in control. Rio was Player of the Match.
