Sports Academies
Newly created in 2023, our sports academies have gone from strength to strength, with the latest win from our rugby academy proving how successful the team has been in developing their skills in such a short amount of time. Our academies play against far more established teams and it is thanks to the work put in by our rugby, football and netball coaches that we have been able to build such strong teams from each new cohort of students. Our academies blend year 12 and year 13 students together and it is a brilliant way to develop individual skills alongside teamwork. Well done to everyone!

Continental National Cup v King Edward VI School
MLP Rugby Academy 40-16 King Edward VI School
Days like today are why I coach. I could not be more proud. What an unbelievable performance! That was a special win. The lads were all inspired in the second half and to overturn a 16-12 halftime deficit and win 40-16 speaks volumes.
To beat a good private school that has a winning mentality and who have not lost at home before today – wow! Our defence was heroic and what a squad effort. We left it all out there and what a shift from 1 to 18! We physically broke their spirit and some of our attacking play was sensational. We were smart, took the right options and played as a team!
We have to use today as a benchmark. The second half particularly going forward – wow! We’ve set new standards. Intensity, physicality, aggression, togetherness, fight and passion for the badge was there for all to see!
The team all need to believe now! We are a great side. Not going to single anyone out – they were all brilliant. Can’t wait for the next one against St George’s College, Weybridge in Surrey! Keep the standards at training and keep this momentum rolling. Need to get you all there Tuesday! Roll on the fifth round. Well done fellas!

Netball Academy
What a great afternoon of netball! We took two teams and had a bit of a switch around but the squad that played SWGS A team WON 18-17:
GS/GA Sophie, Neve
WA/C/WD Darcy, Jess, Izzy
GD/GK Imogen, Ivy, Sereana
Great shooting and movement by the shoots, great movement and getting free and bringing up court out of our defence by our middies. Strong and dominant defending by Imogen, Ivy and Sereana.
POM’s Jess and Serena
The squad that played the B team had a close game 16-14, taking the win for the heart.
GS/GA Lois, Flora, Emmy
WA/C/WD Flora,Talei, Amelia, Arianna
GD/GK Reijielli, Freya, Ivy
Great shooting and movement, good CP out and into our goal third, good tips and interceptions by our defenders.
POM Amelia, who stepped up from WA to C for this match and was AMAZING!!
Both games were closely contested. We are so proud of the fantastic netballers.
Bournemouth S6C Football Academy
Exeter City 1 vs 1 Bournemouth S6C Football Academy
We took a trip down to Exeter to play top of the league and came away with a solid point but we didn’t get the three points which we should have got and deserved. First half, we started to slow and couldn’t find the rhythm of the game, giving the ball away in the third quarter. We did pass the ball well and kept hold of it, but lacked the cutting edge required at this level. Second half, we started slow again and an individual mistake created an opportunity for the opposition which they ruthlessly took. One nil down. Fortunately, we reacted quickly and found ourselves equalise quite quickly through a well worked set piece routine. With help from the gaffer, Ben, we switched up the formation and found ourselves in their final third for rest of the game. On another day we would have found ourselves walking off the pitch with three points. But it was a great performance with four of our regular starters unable to feature.

Cross Country
Another successful afternoon of sport – our two cross country runners ran the fourth and final Salisbury schools race at Laverstock and Charlie Coles won with Thomas Holme coming in fifth. The best three performances across the four races are tallied up to give an overall ranking. Charlie was placed first out of the senior boys and S6C came second behind BWS for the senior boys team. Well done to them both They will now be selected to represent Salisbury in the Wiltshire Schools event held in Chippenham in the new year.
Year 12 Parents Evening
There is a parents evening scheduled for Thursday 28 November for all year 12 parents. The evening runs from 4pm to 6pm and teaching staff will be endeavouring to see as many parents as necessary in that time. Your young person will have been given the opportunity to book a 10 minute meeting with each of their teachers. If your young person has not discussed the evening with you and you would like to meet with their teachers, please do get in touch. Contact details for all teaching staff are below:
If for any reason you are unable to attend a meeting in person, we are offering parents the opportunity to speak to staff via a Google Meet link. If this is something you would like to arrange, again, please get in touch with your young person’s teachers. If you have any further queries or wish to discuss your young person’s progress further, please contact Curriculum Lead Nicky Miller.
Special Thanks
Thank you to S6C Governor John Hawkins for visiting us and speaking with staff and students. John has been a Governor since our inception and his tireless efforts are hugely appreciated by everyone at S6C.
Trip to Harry Potter Studios
The Creative Faculty recently visited the Warner Bros. Studio Tour, The Making of Harry Potter. The trip was a great reminder of how important the creative industries are and that our students are at the beginning of a very exciting journey with a wealth of opportunities ahead.

Please see links below to additional resources to help students prepare for mock exams. There is a link to the most up to date timetable as well. We hopefully need not remind all students that we expect them to complete 4.5 hours of independent study per subject per week to ensure they are completing coursework to a high enough standard and adequately preparing for their exams.
