Edward Heath Debate
Congratulations to all of our History students who participated in the Edward Heath Debate. The motion ‘Heath’s government of 1970 to 1974 must be judged unsuccessful’ was debated with Peter Batey and Neil Carmichael, both of whom worked with Edward Heath. Our visitors were able to provide a remarkable insight into the government at the time, much of which cannot be experienced from reading textbooks and online articles. Thank you to our students, staff and of course our guests for putting together such a lively debate.
Sports Academies
Newly created in 2023, our sports academies have gone from strength to strength, with the latest win from our rugby academy proving how successful the team has been in developing their skills in such a short amount of time. Our academies play against far more established teams and it is thanks to the work put in by our rugby, football and netball coaches that we have been able to build such strong teams from each new cohort of students. Our academies blend year 12 and year 13 students together and it is a brilliant way to develop individual skills alongside teamwork. Well done to everyone!

St George’s College 41 vs 17 S6C Rugby Academy
What a fantastic effort and what a brilliant day out – we won’t forget St George’s in a hurry, what a place. St George’s team consisted of five professional academy players and one U18s England International.
First half we were second best and didn’t get going and we were punished by an excellent outfit. Their efficiency at set plays was on a different level. Plus nothing seemed to go our way.
26-0 down at half time it was looking like a painful afternoon. Luckily we stepped up massively in the second half and gave a much better account of ourselves. The lads grew into the game and started to play with the freedom and confidence that got us this far in the National competition.
Second half we won 17-15 – a good powerful charge from our forwards and a lovely chip and chase finished in the corner saw us get some reward for our efforts.
Fair play to St George’s – they were a very impressive side. Sometimes you have to hold your hands up and say well done.
Really proud of all the lads. What a cup run, we have loved the last two weeks. Not bad for a small state college two years into the process.
Lots to be proud of!
Thank you to the teachers and parents for supporting the lads!
Bournemouth S6C Football Academy
What a win! S6C Bournemouth Academy 13 vs 0 Newport County
A frosted morning at Ringwood kicked off AFC Bournemouth S6C. From minute one the whole squad were determined to win every ball, Newport didn’t know what hit them.
By half time we were 5-0 up. Previously this squad have been complacent going into the second half. But today was different. With composure and discipline we had managed to exceed the first half performance and tally up another 8 goals. So at the final whistle we had produced a thumping 13-0 win.
This cup fixture result will play a huge part in this group stage, but there is still work to be done to qualify.
Goal contributions today were:
Aaron Tobet : Goals x4
Max Elshaw : Goals x1, Assists x2
Ollie King : Goals x1, Assists x4
Ben Shering : Goals x1, Assists x1
Zak Speed : Assists x1
Joshua Brown : Goals x1, Assists x2,
Olly Bowden : Assists x1
Harry Dickins: Goals x3
Hugo DS : Clean sheet
Man of the Match:
Trav Budgell : Goals x2, Assist x1
S6C Bournemouth Academy 5 vs 1 Exeter City
The lads are on FIRE!
Today we played at home in the cup vs Exeter. After drawing 1-1 a couple of weeks ago, we knew that it would be a physical battle and the game wouldn’t be easy. The game started well for both sides, however the breakthrough came from Aaron. A lovely through ball by Max put Aaron 1 on 1 vs the keeper. With a defender on his tail, he finished superbly putting us 1-0 up. That was the halftime score.
There was still lots to do if we wanted to win this game and we showed that in the second half. Lots of pressure was put on the Exeter defence and the second goal came from our number 9 Max. Great run from Bowden whose original shot was saved and Max was there to tap home. 2-0. The third came moments later again from Max. A great run through the defence and sitting down the keeper. 3-0. However Exeter pulled one back and it was important for the lads to remain calm and continue playing our football. It was certain that we were going to get more goals and eventually we found the net again. Max grabs his hat trick in style! Harry M mugs off the defender and plays a lovely ball through to Max. He goes round the keeper again and Bournemouth go 4-1 up. The fifth came soon after from our sub Harry D. Kinger with the cut back and Harry D finishes it into the bottom corner. The game ended 5-1 Bournemouth.
Brilliant performance from the lads and still showing how ruthless we can be in front of goal.
Final score: S6C Bournemouth 5-1 Exeter City

2-0 Max, Bowden assist
3-0 Max
