16 July 2025
And just like that, another academic year is over and it is time to reflect on everything that we have achieved, how much we have learned and the obstacles that we have overcome.
At S6C, we are incredibly proud of the level of support we give to every single student, enabling each student to identify and conquer all barriers to learning.
At S6C, our expert teaching staff ensure that every student progresses and achieves the outcome they need for their next steps.
At S6C, gaps in learning are identified and addressed early and every student is encouraged to develop a love of learning and to study independently, skills which are hugely useful in later life.
At S6C, students can grow and become the very best versions of themselves that they can be and we are all incredibly proud of their achievements this year.
The S6C community works together to bring a wealth of opportunities to our students, in the classroom and beyond. There are staff working behind the scenes every day, keeping our students safe, looking after their mental health and wellbeing, providing delicious meals, organising exams and assessments, making sure student data is updated and secured, ensuring our site is maintained and cleaned, greeting visitors and seeking to maintain the warm, friendly, welcoming atmosphere that has been established over the past 10 years. Every activity shows how dedicated our staff are and how, at S6C, we strive to raise standards and achieve exceptional outcomes. Thank you to everyone for making S6C such a special place and wishing everyone a happy and safe summer break – see you in September!
Unlock Year 13
The day was busy, with nearly 200 students meeting with tutors to enrol into Year 13. Students also attended talks about life after S6C and copies of the resources are below:
The ASK Programme – Apprenticeships and Technical Education
Amazing Apprenticeships
Apprenticeships
Personal statement advice – University of Winchester
Starting your application and personal statement – Southampton Solent University
If you got an E or a U grade in one or more of your A-Level end of year 12 mocks, you will be doing a resit paper on Monday 01 September. Please see the attached timetable with the information on the title of your paper (i.e. the topics) and the length. Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the start time of your exam (either 9am or 1pm). If you are unsure about anything, please message Kirsty White or speak to your subject teacher.
Beyond the Classroom
Recent trips have seen students travel all the way to the Isles of Scilly and slightly more locally to the New Forest Wildlife Park, Marwell Zoo, Salisbury Cathedral to hear Sir John Major speak, Dartmoor for the Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and Stratford Bridge.
Students who were unable to secure a work experience placement spent the day with WFM Software Solutions, learning how to work in teams to devise a new product, in this case an app, developing a robust business strategy, marketing plan and presenting their ideas.

Liz Stavely – Mental Health Lead
We are fast approaching the end of term, with long lazy days of sunshine and snacks calling… (or rain and part time jobs). Please take some time over the summer to do things that make you happy and try and rebuild your energy reserves for September. However, I realise holidays are not the easiest time for some of us, if you do need some mental health support over the summer, please have a look at the services below:
– Samaritans phone call and email service
– Young Minds lots of advice, blogs and articles
– The Mix if you feel like you can’t cope or are worried about how you are feeling, you can contact our crisis messenger 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by texting THEMIX to 85258
– Alabare a free local counselling service; drop in service available located in Churchfields Industrial Estate, 2 Watt Rd, Salisbury SP2 7UD 01722 322882
– If you are at risk of immediate harm, you should call 999
You’ll find a few suggestions for great online text support, phone counselling and short term counselling. This is all free to access and confidential. It’s always better to talk than to bottle up your worries. Have a great break and see you in Y13!
NHS study into mental health and depression in parents and young people – the NHS are looking for families to take part, all participants are recompensed in vouchers: Skills for Adolescent Wellbeing study
Rebecca Anderson – DSL & Pastoral Lead

– Your college account will be deleted when you leave S6C. This will mean that all your work will be deleted and you will not be able to access this again. If you want a copy of your work for future use, you MUST use Google Takeout to download your work:
1. Head to the Google Takeout website
2. Sign in with your college Google Account. You’ll see a list of Google products. Uncheck everything except “Drive”. Click the checkbox next to “Drive” and then select “All Drive data included” for a complete download.
3. At the bottom, you can choose how you want to receive your files (email or cloud storage) and the file format (.zip is recommended).
4. Click “Create export” and Google will start collecting your files. This might take a while depending on how much data you have. Once it’s ready, you’ll get a notification email with a link to download your archived files. Remember:
5. Downloaded files might be organised differently than in your Drive.
6. This download only includes your own files, not shared folders or files owned by others.
Tip: Save your downloaded files on a secure external hard drive or cloud storage for safekeeping.
Don’t wait! Download your work and keep a copy for your future endeavours.
We would like to wish our Year 13 leavers all the very best with their exam results and plans for next year. We’ll miss you!
